Q. Who are your musical influences?
A. Who knows what decided to stick? I'll give you a list of some of my favorite albums, in no particular order.
Royksopp "Melody A.M."
Miles Davis "Kind of Blue"
Frou Frou "Details"
Morcheeba "Big Calm"
Radiohead "Ok Computer"
Zero Seven "When it Falls"
Sade "Lovers Rock"
The Beatles "Abbey Road"
Beck "Mutations" & "Sea Change"
Andreas Vollenweider "Book of Roses"
Counting Crows "This Desert Life"
Steely Dan "Gaucho" & "Aja"
Seal "Human Beings"
The Shins "Chutes Too Narrow"
Tom Petty: Everything
Q. How long does the making of an album
usually take?
A. Anywhere from a few weeks to a year. That depends on a lot of factors, like:
• How far along the material is before we begin working
• The budget
• How well I know the artist i'm working with
• How well we communicate
• The level of trust
• The level of obsessive behavior (myself included) :)
Q. What made you move to Austin?
A. I always thought Austin was beautiful. The landscape where I live in N.W. Austin reminds me of the Hollywood hills after a rainstorm (rare) washes away the yellow haze. When you take Los Angeles, strip away the superficiality, the smog, and the beach, you have Austin. I hope the secret doesn't get out.
Q. Plus, all those wackos in L.A., right?
A. Well, now there's one less.
Q. Do you write or strictly produce and record?
A. I started out as a composer and songwriter and still write all the time. I'm currently working on my own album.

Q. If I see you in a bar on Sixth Street, what kind of drink should I buy you.
A. a shot of Tequila.
Q. If I see you at the Rocky Horror Pic...
A. You won't see me at the Rocky Horror Picture Show
Q. What's your favorite thing about collaborating?
A. Well, it's a boring answer but you learn a lot about your own strengths and weaknesses when you're working with another person.
Q. So what ARE your strengths/weaknesses?
A. My strengths: Talent, creativity, intelligence, boldness, good communication skills, passion, good spellor.
B. My weaknesses: Impatience, and sometimes I'm forgetful..... What a dumb word. Forgetful. Full of forget? What was the question?
Q. What's your pet peeve?
A. People who say "pop music" while smirking. I think it's probably harder to write a hit song than to get a PhD. in astrophysics. Besides, show me a person who hates pop music because it's popular, and I'll show you a person who was chosen last for kickball in 3rd grade P.E.
Q. When you work on a project, do you work with
that artist exclusively?
A. I really benefit from working on more than one project in the same time frame. It seems to keep each project fresh and I don't get bored or burned out. The only exception is a film-scoring project, which really does require all of my
time in a short period of maybe 3 to 5 weeks.
Q. What are you most thankful for?
A. That I was lucky enough to find my true passion very early, and that I was born into a family that fed and nurtured it.
Q. How do I contact you?
A. You can contact me directly through this website.
